How to play Minecraftle
Minecraftle is a daily 3×3 crafting-recipe puzzle in the browser. You have 10 guesses to match one recipe from a pool of 132 patterns using 18 ingredients. Slots may stay empty. The official page can be played without payment, installing Minecraft, or creating an account.
A turn
Select an ingredient from the inventory, place it on the grid, and submit. In the default theme, gray means absent or an excess copy, orange/mustard means the ingredient belongs elsewhere, and green means a correctly placed ingredient. Read green and orange together before ruling out a repeated material. In High Contrast, correct ingredients are orange and misplaced ingredients are blue.
What still counts as correct
The client accepts shifts within the 3×3 and left-right mirrors. It does not generate vertical flips or rotations, although a symmetric recipe can look unchanged by a flip. The file marks 5 of 132 recipes shapeless; each occupies just one cell, so this is not evidence that arbitrary multi-item arrangements work. The legacy ingredient id minecraft:planks is labeled Oak Planks here.

Daily or practice?
Daily selects a recipe from your device’s local calendar date, not UTC. Random mode at ?random=true draws from the same pool; it can repeat a recipe, including the daily one. These details come from the official source, checked by HTTP on 24 October 2026, not from a new play session.

FAQ
How many guesses does Minecraftle allow?
Ten. The official client shows Guess n/10. There is no separate hard mode in the current client.
What do the colors mean?
Default theme: gray means absent or an excess copy, mustard/orange means an ingredient belongs in another slot, and green means a correctly placed ingredient. High contrast changes correct to orange and misplaced to blue.
Do I have to fill every slot?
No. Many recipes contain empty slots. The client distinguishes matching empty cells from green ingredient matches, so an empty cell is not a green ingredient clue.
Can a gray ingredient still occur in the answer?
Yes, when you guessed too many copies. The client allocates green matches first, then orange matches up to the remaining ingredient count. Extra copies stay gray.
